Description
Short Song Description:
Our Nation's history and sacrafice- for a freedom that is still no guarantee.
Long Song Description:
This song is about the factual account of how our nation came into being. The famous phrase "in pursuit of hapiness" is used to evoke pride. The end of the song poses serious question "does our constitution garauntee our fate?" or does sound social policy ensure social justice? The words of Martin Luthur King are used at the end "I have a dream, I have a dream"...this is meant to be taken as is, or one can search for deeper meaning.
Story Behind the Song:
It was after 911 and my national pride was whelling up inside me. I wanted to create a powerful song that would stir up that feeling in others, but also pose questions like "are we truly there yet?"

Lyrics
This here song's for you and me
This here song's about what it means to be free
This here song's about who we are
We declared our independance backed it up with acts of war

(CHORUS)
And I say hey, ho, we can go where we want to go
You, me, chasing down our dream
In pursuit of happiness, in pursuit of hapiness

Then the little man, (napolean) he sold us land for cheap
We embarked upon a conquest taming all the west to be
One nation strong and proud and free
We can say the things we want to say, be who we want to be

(CHORUS)

Have you ever bowed your head and said a prayer?
Not for your own self, but for those left unaware
Free us now from hopelessness and hate
Sir, does our constitution gaurantee our fate?

In Pursuit of Happiness, in pursuit of Happiness

And I have a dream, I have a dream
See what you want to see...but I have a dream
